Common Questions

Everything you need to know about joining Ireland's largest salsa community.

Yes, Line Salsa (also called LA Style) is danced in a straight slot on the 1-beat, with sharp turns, dips, and styling. It is the most popular salsa style taught worldwide and the style you see in most dance performances.
Partners stay within a narrow invisible slot. The leader moves forward and back while the follower moves in the opposite direction, never leaving the line. This creates the clean, structured look that defines Line Salsa.
The cross-body lead is taught in the very first beginner class. It is the foundational move of Line Salsa and the building block for almost every pattern you will learn in higher levels.
Yes, most salsa performance teams and competitions use Line Salsa because of its sharp styling and visual impact. If you are interested in performing, Line Salsa is the best style to focus on.
Line Salsa uses more structured footwork with clear forward-back steps and shines (solo footwork patterns) between partner sections, rather than circular stepping. The timing is precise and the patterns are repeatable.
No partner? No problem — Line Salsa is a partner dance, but we rotate partners throughout every class, so you'll practise leading and following with someone new each time. Most students come on their own and meet their first dance partners right here in Dublin.
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that lets you move freely — Line Salsa is full of sharp turns, spins and slot work. For footwear, smooth-soled shoes or dance shoes are best for the sliding steps; avoid sneakers with heavy grip that stick to the floor.
Payment is easy: Revolut or cash. Once you sign up online you'll receive a confirmation email with all the payment details, and if you prefer to pay cash you can do it at the door when you arrive for your first line salsa class.
Line Salsa, also called LA Style or On1 Salsa, is danced in a straight slot: the leader moves forward and back along an imaginary line while the follower moves on the opposite line. It's the most popular salsa style taught worldwide and the style you see in most dance performances.
Yes — Line Salsa is danced on the 1-beat, which means you break on the first beat of the music. That's the timing we teach in all our classes, and it's the most common style in Dublin. If you've heard of 'On1' vs 'On2', we teach On1.
Our Line Salsa classes take place at Custom House Quay in Dublin's IFSC, Dublin 1 — the same city centre studio as our other classes. It's a short walk from Connolly and Tara Street stations, with parking nearby.
None at all. Line Salsa is the style most beginners start with — our 4-week beginner course covers the basic step, timing and the cross-body lead from your very first class. No partner and no experience needed.
