Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about starting your Cuban Salsa journey at Dublin Salsa Academy.
Yes. This page is for complete beginners. You start with the basic step and timing in week one, and you do not need any previous dance experience.
The teacher warms you up, breaks down the basic step and timing, then adds your first partner figures. You rotate partners throughout the class, so you are never left standing alone.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Smooth-soled shoes or dance shoes help with turns, and grippy trainers make spinning harder. Bring water.
Most beginners find it natural. Cuban Salsa moves in a circle instead of a straight line, so you are not memorising long shine patterns. Connection and timing matter more than perfect footwork.
Join on one of the dates shown in the joining dates section. Those dates are chosen so nobody falls behind. If you miss them, contact us and we will tell you the next good start date.
Cuban Salsa is circular partner dancing with improvisation and Rueda de Casino. Line Salsa is danced in a slot with sharper, more structured turns. Dublin Salsa Academy teaches both, so you can try either style.
You move up to Level 2. Level 2 adds enchufla variants, vacila and the first Rueda de Casino calls. The intermediate and advanced page explains the full path.
Classes run at the Harbourmaster, Custom House Quay, IFSC, Dublin 1, D01 W0X8. Luas, DART and bus stops are close by, and there are free and paid parking options nearby.
