Dance Classes for Couples in Dublin: A Date Night That Actually Works
October 7, 2026 • Dublin Salsa Academy
There are two ways a couple ends up looking for a dance class in Dublin. One of you has wanted to try it for years and finally said it out loud. Or there is a wedding coming and the first dance has turned into a genuine problem.
Both are good reasons. Here is the honest answer on how it works here: you can learn together, you need no experience at all, and four weeks costs €45 each.
• Where: Harbourmaster, Custom House Quay, IFSC, Dublin 1.
• Cost: €45 each for four weeks, one hour a week. €85 for eight weeks.
• Nights: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with classes at 18:30, 19:30 and 20:30.
• The one thing to know first: in a group course the room rotates, so you will dance with other people as well. Staying together for the whole hour is what private lessons are for.

How a Couples Class Actually Works
In a group class the room rotates. You start the hour with each other, then the teacher calls a change and you move on to someone new.
That is the part most couples worry about, and it is also the reason it works. You cannot learn to follow a room if you only ever hold one hand.
It is not romantic. It is training, and it is one hour a week. If the two of you want the full hour in a close hold, book
private lessons instead: one teacher, the two of you, sixty minutes.
Three Ways to Learn Together in Dublin
- A four week beginner course: the cheapest way in and the one most couples pick. €45 each, one hour a week, three styles to choose from. Joining dates and booking are on the beginner page.
- Private lessons for two: €100 for one session of sixty minutes with a teacher, no rotation and nobody watching. This is the route couples take for a wedding dance. Private lessons in Dublin.
- The social afterwards: from 21:30 in the same room, €5, and the first place your steps stop being exercises. Dance socials run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Four Weeks, One Hour a Week
The two of you can start on the next intake. €45 each for four weeks, no experience needed, and beginners are welcome in all three nights.
See Beginner CoursesWhat Four Weeks Look Like for the Two of You
Week one is the basic step and the count. Nobody arrives knowing them, including the people who look like they do.
Same night, same time, one hour a week. That is why it works: four weeks in, your feet stop arguing with your head.
Beginners join on fixed dates. The October intake closes on 12, 13 and 14 October. The November intake opens on 2, 3 and 4 November. You can start on any of those days, not only the Monday.
We Have Two Left Feet Between Us
That is the standard opening line at the door, and it has never once been true. Nobody in week one can dance yet. That is the entire point of week one.
The other worry is being watched. Nobody is watching. The room is full of people looking at the teacher and thinking about their own feet, which is what you will be doing too.
If you are starting in your thirties, forties or later, you are in the majority here.
The guide for beginners over 30 covers that side of it.
Questions Couples Ask Us
- Do we have to dance with other people? In a course, yes. The room rotates every few minutes, and it is how you learn to dance with anyone rather than with one person. Private lessons keep the two of you together for the full hour.
- What if one of us picks it up faster? One of you always does, and it stops mattering by week two. Rotating partners means the faster one is not waiting around, and the slower one gets different people to figure it out with.
- What do we wear? Jeans and a t-shirt are fine. Flat shoes with a smooth sole, so your feet can turn instead of sticking to the floor.
- Can we still get into the October course? It closes on 12, 13 and 14 October, and November opens on 2, 3 and 4 November.
- Can we do this for a wedding? Plenty of couples do. A few private sessions are usually enough for one song you both feel comfortable with.
- How much is it for the two of us? €45 each for four weeks, so €90 for the pair. Eight weeks is €85 each.
What It Costs, in Full
One style for four weeks is €45 each, eight weeks is €85. Two styles at once is €130, three styles is €150, and unlimited is €155. Every price is listed on the
pricing page rather than hidden behind a form.
Two people in the same four week course comes to €90 in total, one hour a week each. There is no couple rate and no couple surcharge, so nothing changes at the desk when you arrive together.
Most couples land on Sensual Bachata, which runs on three nights. If you are still not sure what the dance is,
the bachata breakdown gives you the count and the music before you commit to a term.
Where It Is and How to Get There
Harbourmaster is on Custom House Quay in the IFSC, Dublin 1, D01 W0X8. It is the bar on the corner of the quay, and the classes run in the room behind it.
Three minutes on foot from Connolly Station, a short walk from Busáras, and the Luas runs along the quay outside. There is free parking on the surrounding streets after 7pm.
That matters on a weeknight. You can finish work, eat something in town, walk down the quay and be in class by 18:30.
The timetable shows every slot on every night.
