Friday Night Was Great and Sunday Will Be Even Bigger
January 31, 2026 • Kevin Brennan
It is Saturday afternoon here in Dublin. Today is January 31, 2026. We are currently sitting in that quiet space between two days of heavy dancing. The first leg of the Kan Flow Bachata Weekend 2026 happened yesterday. It was Friday the 30th of January. We have one more big day coming up tomorrow on Sunday.
I am looking through the photos we took at the Harbourmaster last night. You can see the energy in the room. The event kicked off at 18 hours 30 minutes yesterday. The turnout was strong. People showed up ready to learn and ready to move. The vibe was exactly what we hoped for when we saw the schedule.

We started the weekend with a focus on technique. The first workshop yesterday ran for ninety minutes. It went from 18:30 to 20:00. The session covered Bachata footwork and couples partnerwork. It is always good to see dancers drilling the basics before trying the flashy stuff. The photos show lines of people concentrating hard on their foot placement.

The highlight of the evening came next. We had a masterclass at 20:00. This was the session with Tonio Kan. He is the international artist joining us from France for this weekend. Tonio led a ninety-minute session that ran until 21:30. He focused on Bachata musicality plus footwork and body movement. This class was specifically for men and ladies to improve how they interpret the music. The photos from this part of the night show Tonio demonstrating body isolation. It was an intensive session suitable for all levels from beginners to level 5 dancers.

The learning portion of the night ended at 21:30. Then the lights went down for the party. The social dancing ran until 01:00. The music policy was fun. The DJ played 90 percent Bachata tracks. They mixed in about 10 percent Salsa and Cuban music to keep things fresh. You can tell from the smiles in the pictures that the mix worked well. It was a great way to close out the first day of the event.

Now we have today to rest. We need the rest because tomorrow is going to be busy. Sunday is February 1. It is the second and final day of the Kan Flow Bachata Weekend. If you missed yesterday you should really try to make it tomorrow. The schedule is packed with workshops and another big party.
The action tomorrow starts a bit earlier than it did on Friday. We begin at 18:00 The first hour is dedicated to styling. This is a chance to work on how you look while you execute the moves.

We move back to partnerwork at 19:00. This session lasts for ninety minutes. The instructors will again divide the room by experience level.

The main event of Sunday happens at 20:00. Tonio Kan returns for his second masterclass of the weekend. This session runs for ninety minutes until 21 hours 30 minutes. He will teach musicality and footwork plus body movement again. Tonio is a world-renowned artist so learning from him is a rare chance. Spots for this masterclass are very limited. If you want to understand how to move your body to the rhythm this is the class to take.

We finish the weekend with a massive party. The social dancing starts at 21:30 and goes until 01:00. The setup for Sunday is different from Friday. We will have two floors of dance available. The First Floor will be dedicated to 100 percent Bachata music. The Ground Floor will offer a mix of Salsa and Zouk. You can even request Kizomba songs on the ground floor if you want.

There is another reason to come to the party tomorrow night. We are holding a competition. It is the Best Leaders and Follows Competition. This is chosen by you the dancers on the night. You vote as you dance with each participant. It feels very fair and community driven.
The prizes for the competition are serious. The Best Leader wins 100 Euro cash plus a 350 Euro voucher. The voucher is from Evershot Photography. It pays for one professional dance video recording. The Best Follower wins the exact same prize. They get 100 Euro cash and the 350 Euro video voucher. It is a great way to get some high-quality footage of your dancing.
We have a whole team of instructors here this weekend. Tonio Kan is the headliner from France, but the rest of the team are teachers at DSA here in Ireland. Kevin Brennan is representing Ireland, Jonathan is from Ecuador, Juli is from Brazil, and Camila is from Spain. They are all from these respective places, but they are teachers in DSA here in Ireland. It is a diverse group of teachers, and you get to see different styles and approaches to Bachata.

This weekend is special for the Dublin Salsa Academy community. We are celebrating dance and connection. The photos from yesterday prove that the atmosphere is right. Everyone was smiling and sweating and learning. Sunday promises to be even better because of the styling classes and the two-floor party.
If you are a member of the Dublin Salsa Academy you might be used to the regular classes. They run every week on Mondays and Tuesdays and Wednesdays. But this weekend is different. Bringing in an artist like Tonio Kan changes the dynamic. It pushes everyone to level up their skills. The focus on musicality is something we all need. It helps us stop counting steps and start feeling the rhythm.
The competition tomorrow night adds a nice edge of excitement. Watching the dancers compete for the video shoot prize will be fun. The fact that the crowd judges the winner makes it very interactive. You have to be there to cast your vote.
The weather in Dublin might be cold in February but the dance floor will be hot. The mix of Bachata on the first floor and Salsa on the ground floor tomorrow covers all the bases. We are halfway through this experience. Friday was the warm-up. Sunday is the main event. You have the schedule now. You know the prices. You know where to go.
Take today to recover your energy. Stretch your legs. Drink some water. Look at the photos from Friday if you need motivation. Then get your shoes ready for tomorrow. We start at 18 hours sharp with the styling classes. Do not be late. We want to see you there on the floor. Message Kevin on WhatsApp now to secure your pass for Sunday. It is going to be a great night.
