Unforgettable Energy: A Recap of the Kan Flow Bachata Weekend 2026

February 5, 2026Kevin Brennan

It’s Thursday evening in Dublin, and we’re finally catching our breath. The Kan Flow Bachata Weekend 2026 wasn't just another event; it was a testament to the incredible growth and passion of Dublin's best dance community. From the first step on Friday night to the final social on Sunday, the energy at the Harbourmaster was nothing short of electric.
Walking into the venue each day, you could feel the anticipation. We welcomed dancers from all over Ireland and beyond, all united by a desire to learn from one of the best in the world—Tonio Kan. The atmosphere was a beautiful mix of intense focus during the masterclasses and pure, unadulterated joy on the social floor.

The heart of the weekend was undoubtedly the workshops. Tonio Kan brought a level of technical precision and artistic flair that truly inspired everyone. His focus on musicality and body movement pushed even our most experienced dancers to find new ways to connect with the music. It wasn't just about learning patterns; it was about understanding the 'why' behind the movement.
On Sunday, we added a special layer of excitement with our competitions. While the talent on the floor was phenomenal, we also had to recognize the incredible style our community brought to the event. A huge congratulations to our Best Dressed winners, Louise Kelly and Martin!

The Soul of Connection: Best Leader & Follower

Beyond the style, the soul of Bachata is the connection between lead and follow. Our competition for the Best Leader and Best Follower was the absolute highlight of Sunday night, and the coolest part? It was judged entirely by the community on the floor. The talent pool was incredibly deep, making every vote count in a true celebration of social dancing.
A massive round of applause for our Best Leader, Pedro Teixeira, and our Best Follower, Jessica! Pedro’s technical precision and Jessica’s effortless grace perfectly embodied the ‘Kan Flow’ spirit we celebrated all weekend. They each won €100 cash, a €350 professional Evershot Photography couples video voucher, and a €150 ticket for Tonio Kan’s Fusion Bachata Festival! Watching them dance was a masterclass in itself!

None of this would have been possible without our incredible team. A huge thank you to our Director & Lead Instructor Kevin Brennan, Lead Instructor Jonathan, and our instructors Juli, Camila, Karina, Jocelyne, Laura, Loke, Erald, and Arun for their tireless work throughout the weekend. Their diverse styles and shared passion for teaching are what make the Dublin Salsa Academy so special.
