Starting a new hobby can feel a bit scary. You might wonder if you will be the only one who doesn't know the steps. At Dublin Salsa Academy, we make sure everyone feels at home by having clear levels. This helps you learn at the right speed with people who are at the same stage as you.
We offer five main levels for Salsa and Bachata. Each one builds on the last. Let's look at what you will learn in each stage.
Level 1: Beginner (B)
This level is for people who have never danced before. If you think you have two left feet, this is where you start! You don't need a partner or any special shoes.
In these classes, we teach you the very basics. You will learn how to stand, how to move your feet to the beat, and how to hold a partner comfortably. Most people spend about 8 to 10 weeks here to get a strong foundation.

Join Beginner Classes NowLevel 2: Improver (L2)
Once you know the basic steps and timing, you move up to Level 2. Here, things get a bit more interesting. You will start learning simple turns and how to combine different moves together.
The goal of this level is to make your dancing feel smoother. You will spend more time practicing with different partners to improve your leading and following skills.
Level 3: Intermediate (L3)
Level 3 is where the fun really ramps up. You should feel fairly confident on the dance floor by now. We introduce faster turns and more complex patterns that you can use at social dance nights.
Students in this level focus on musicality. This means learning how to hear different instruments in the music and changing your dance to match the mood of the song.
Level 4: Advanced (L4)
This level is for dancers who have been with us for a year or more. The moves are much faster and require better balance. We work on technical details like sharp spins and elegant hand styling.
You will learn how to add your own personality to the dance. It's not just about following a pattern anymore; it's about making the dance your own.
Level 5: Masterclass (L5)
Our highest level is for those who live and breathe dance. Level 5 classes often feel like a workshop. We dive deep into advanced techniques and complex choreography.
Dancers at this level often perform or help newer students. It's a great place to refine every tiny detail of your movement and reach a professional standard.

If you are new to Salsa or Bachata, always pick Level 1. Even if you have danced other styles like ballet or hip-hop, the rhythm here is unique. Starting at the beginning ensures you don't miss any vital tips.
If you have danced before in another city, come talk to our instructors. We can watch you move for a minute and suggest the best spot for you. We want you to feel challenged but not overwhelmed.
No matter which level you are in, the main goal is to have fun and meet new people. Dance is a social skill that stays with you for life. We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor soon!
